Another great podcast--I am a big believer ...Lance!

Another great podcast--I am a big believer in synchronicity--the radio saving your soul from self flagellating depression was awesome.

I am sad to hear that the magazine is not moving as fast as you had hoped--I heard you say that you had missed some deadlines and stuff--remember what Burroughs said "Kerouac is a writer. By this I mean he writes." Keep writing honestly and let the "project management" stuff take care of itself.

The "Chop House" prize is in Orange County, right? Let me know when you are planning to come down and collect your prize. I will take you to Kean Coffee which will change your views on what Coffee should be forever.

I related to your frustration regarding the Lakers--it may actually be worse to loose to a Celtics team that is clearly better than us, then to let them sneak one past us. Whenever the Lakers let me down, I turn to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which I recommend--your Nirvana/Waits soundtrack is challenging to anyone optimism.

This week I picked up The Pleasures of the Damned: Poems, 1951-1993

The Pleasures of the Damned: Poems, 1951-1993 by Charles Bukowski which collects a lot of the Black Sparrow press stuff and is currently saving my soul. I encourage you to pick it up.

Have a great week & I cannot wait till the next podcast.David Given Schwarmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09106539582570204636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11322633.post-60605883388492730642008-07-09T12:16:00.000-07:002008-07-09T12:16:00.000-07:00Tim, Paul H. & Paul B.Thanks Guys for checking in....Tim, Paul H. & Paul B.

Thanks Guys for checking in.

Cheers,

--Lance

p.s. I haven't been as engrossed in a podcast as I was with this episode. Kudos - I have been a long time supporter of Feinstein and totally agree with you. I was there in the trenches at the Secretary of State during the time period that Davis was ousted and Arnie put in. Dirty politics is all that I can say on all sides. I really dug this episode and then you ended it with Tom Waits - invoked images of one of my favorite movies "Until the End of the World," but after a quick search ascertained that I knew the song from "12 Monkeys." It doesn't lessen the impact of the episode at all. If it were up to me, I'd have this as a Verge Classic.

Good luck with the magazine. We're rooting for you.

PaulPaul Babinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15435266477628734770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11322633.post-65988333242817762742008-07-09T10:04:00.000-07:002008-07-09T10:04:00.000-07:00Perspective.Things have looked a lot different fro...Perspective.

Things have looked a lot different from where I have been standing.
This show gave me a lot of insight into where you have been recently, Lance.

Even though you have a somewhat 'tough dude' persona, like you are ready to 'mix it up' with someone if need be, you reveal your weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
You are in my thoughts, man.

Freedom lies on the other side of adversity.

I just made it through to the other side.
Like wading through whitewater rapids up to my neck.
I *knew* I was going to make it through, but I didn't know in what kind of shape.
Dude, I am in top shape, better than ever, which I did not expect. The fact that Arnold can't run for president has made him and effective governor (in my opinion) because all he cares about is California and his legacy here. Thus, he's been a leader on environmental issues, social issues, etc. that Repubs usually don't take the risk on.

Sometimes a big ego can accomplish big things.

Tim
The Hollywood PodcastAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11322633.post-45734345511064942932008-07-09T09:27:00.000-07:002008-07-09T09:27:00.000-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Lance Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08711788050323647117noreply@blogger.com
