Bonus Track: "Hallelujah"

Hunter S. Thompson and Johnny Depp
The true follow-up piece to "On The Road, The Sun Also Rises" is a tribute to the late, great Hunter S. Thompson. I also talk about the "Christmas Blues," madness and girls that like Johnny Depp vs. girls who like Brad Pitt...

"Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen (by way of Jeff Buckley)... "Hunter Depp" shot by Lance... "Thanks for the download"...

Fantastic show!

I liked the part about the Girlfriend's best friend who hated you! Man, can I ever relate to that--I have had that relationship so many times.

And the girls who like Depp vs. the girls who like Pitt; seriously talk about defining our generation--I can basically organize every single woman that I know into those two categories.

I am sorry that you gave up your sobriety. Get back on the horse and try again--failure is not about getting knocked down--rather, it is about staying down, right? HST came to UC Santa Barbara, he muttered incomprehensibly during his talk, and afterwards got wasted, smoked crack, and destroyed an elevator shaft. I had found him very inspirational until I meet him; regardless, I get exactly where you were and what you were doing on that clear, crisp, lonely Christmas day. I could actually smell the oranges when you described them.

Have you started the Scroll? I have been meaning to start that--maybe you could pull an Oprah and get a reading group started? I would bet that all of your listeners are planning on reading that at some point in their lives when they find the time! I cannot wait to hear more about the Blue Velvet issue...

Thanks, David S

Hi Lance,

It's funny that you were playing Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah last month because at the same time, I discovered this song while I was really sick (pneumonia) and had it on repeat on my iPod as well. Here's proof:

The world works in weird ways...

In terms of Depp vs. Pitt, when I was younger I was totally into Johnny Depp and depised Brad Pitt. But now that I'm older, and have seen his recent movies, I have a newfound respect for Brad. Previously I had the bias of not being able get past his pretty face and look at his work. Movies that I have enjoyed are Se7en, Babel and Fight Club. But still, if I were to choose, I would still pick Depp.
